Genre Guidelines

Academic essays must be titled appropriately and have a clear thesis with strong attention to purpose throughout the supporting paragraphs. Research should be properly cited in accordance with preferred departmental citation styles. Writers may send up to three essays, no longer than twenty-five pages each.

Fiction includes short stories, flash fiction, or novel excerpts. Writers may send up to three stories, no longer than twenty-five pages each.

Creative nonfiction includes memoirs, travel essays, personal essays, profiles, and lyric essays. Writers may send up to 3 pieces, no longer than twenty-five pages each.

Poetry may be any style, any form. Writers may send up to five poems.

Visual work includes photography, drawings, paintings, and digital art. Art submissions will be considered for inside pages as well as for the cover. Artists may send up to five pieces.
